Bruichladdich Lochindaal 16 year old „The Auld One“ – The oldest bourbon cask maturation of a Lochindaal in the world to date! We have the honor of not only importing another private Bruichladdich Lochindaal single cask, but also distributing it for the cask owner. It sticks to the classic style: ex-bourbon and cask strength with a total of 236 bottles. How do the peaty 50ppm behave after 16 years? How much Laddie funk can you pack into a bottle? Find out! Nose: Uniquely bright, tropical (pineapple, orange, lemon) sweet, waxy, oily marmalade on a salted caramel sponge or fresh waffle. Underneath heavy Islay aromatics: subtle, spicy peat fire on a dominant, stormy coast. Alcohol is relaxed and well integrated. Palate: As on the nose, the first sip is tropically sweet, more lemonade than pure citrus. Smoke and fruit sweetness in constant alternation, has real power overall. It feels like you don’t need to add water, as it quickly causes a strong salivation. The second sip is completely different, with dried herbs (reminiscent of Almdudler) and earthy peat. On swallowing, there is a nice burst of oak sugar that sticks to the back of the palate from then on. Finish: The peat finally makes a strong appearance in the finish. The waxiness and oiliness (lamp oil) from the nose reappear. Then smoky Almdudler, herbaceous and sweet. Later, wet stones on a rough coast.

Andy McNeill has been a legend at German whisky fairs for decades – thanks to his expertise and charm. Based in the picturesque town of Aschaffenburg, Andy also organizes his own whisky fair in the beautiful Aschaffenburg Castle: the Whisk(e)y Pur Festival in the last quarter of each year. Born in Scotland, Andy specializes in high-class, independent bottlings and has a certain weakness for Islay whiskies. With his own label „McNeill’s Choice“, Andy sells hand-picked whiskies, which he usually refines himself in various casks after importing them to Germany. His company Celtic Events is now run as a family business together with his son and brings bottlings from the Vintage Malt Whisky Company, in particular „The Cooper’s Choice“, to Germany, as well as other up-and-coming brands.
